The atmosphere for the Bihar Assembly elections has heated up. The dates have been announced, and voting will take place in two phases on November 6th and 11th. However, if your name isn't yet on the voter list, you still have a chance. The Election Commission (ECI) has clearly stated that people can add their names to the voter list up to 10 days before the nomination process.
Opportunity to add names to the voter list before the Bihar Elections 2025
This time, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar stated that every eligible citizen should have the right to vote, so this facility is being provided to people until the voting. This means that if you are 18 years of age or older, you can easily add your name to the voter list by filling out Form 6.
How to add your name to the voter list
If you are voting for the first time or have moved to a new location, you will need to fill out Form 6. This form is easily available on the Election Commission's website voters.eci.gov.in or nvsp.in.
To apply online, visit the website, then go to the 'New Registration for General Elector' section and click on Form 6. Fill in your name, age, gender, address, and identity proof (such as Aadhaar card or PAN). After submitting your application, it will be sent to the relevant officer.
You can also complete this process offline. For this, you will need to contact the Booth Level Officer (BLO) in your area.
When will the elections be held in Bihar?
This time, voting in Bihar will be held in two phases. The first phase will be on November 6th and the second phase on November 11th. The counting date has been set for November 14th. The facility to add names is available from the moment the election notification is issued until the last date for nominations. However, this time the Commission has clarified that this process will continue until 10 days before voting.
Once the nomination process is complete, the voter list is frozen, meaning no new names can be added or removed.
All information can be obtained from the ECI NET app.
This time, the Election Commission has launched the ECI NET app for the convenience of voters. On this app, you can find all election-related information, such as new voter registration, name correction, checking your name on the voter list, or updating your address after relocating to another area.
This app is available for free on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. This means there's no need to visit an office; everything is now easy to do from your mobile phone.
What is Form-6 and why is it important?
Form-6 is the Election Commission's official document, which allows any new voter to get their name added to the voter list.
If you're voting for the first time or have recently turned 18, this form is essential for you. Additionally, if you have relocated to a new location, you will need to fill out Form 6 to vote in your new area.
