iPhone users are constantly worried about battery life. Now, Apple has found a solution to this concern and added a feature in the iOS 26 update that will extend battery life. This feature, called Adaptive Power, is available in the iPhone 15 Pro models and all iPhones launched after that. This feature is on by default in the iPhone 17 series launched this year, while other models require it to be enabled. Let's explore the uses and benefits of this feature.
How does the Adaptive Power feature work?
Low Power Mode is already available on iPhones to extend battery life. When activated, it reduces performance and disables certain functions. The Adaptive Power feature works differently. Apple says that when you use it more, it increases battery life. It works automatically in the background, eliminating the need for frequent management.
On-Device Intelligence Comes In
The Adaptive Power feature uses on-device intelligence to assess usage patterns and determine when a user needs more battery life. It adjusts power usage accordingly. This happens so meticulously that most of the time, the user doesn't even notice it. Another unique feature is that it doesn't impact performance. If a user turns on Game Mode and engages in gaming or uses the iPhone for photo and video recording, Adaptive Power doesn't impact those tasks.
These iPhones have this feature.
The iPhone 15 Pro models, iPhone 16 series, and iPhone 16 Pro models are available with this feature. This is on by default on the iPhone 17 series, while other models require activation. To do this, go to Settings and tap the Battery option. Here, under Power Mode, turn on the Adaptive Power toggle.
