It’s the kind of story that leaves you with goosebumps. A little boy fighting for his life, a family desperate for hope, and a doctor who stepped in when everything seemed impossible. What unfolded inside the operating theatre in Lucknow was nothing short of extraordinary—a 6-hour marathon surgery that not only saved a 3-year-old child but also won the internet’s heart for one man: Dr. Ankur Bajaj.

The incident happened on Janmashtami, when three-year-old Kartik fell from a terrace while playing. The accident was horrifying—a rod pierced through his shoulder and head. His terrified parents first rushed him to a private hospital, where they were asked to arrange Rs 15 lakh for surgery. According to a post shared by entrepreneur Prafull Billore, the family turned to King George Medical College in Lucknow, hoping for a miracle.

That’s where Dr. Ankur Bajaj and his team came into the picture. Against all odds, they took the boy into surgery, working tirelessly for six long hours to remove the rod and save his life. The most astonishing part? The surgery cost just Rs 25,000, according to Billore—nearly 60 times less than what the private hospital had demanded

What makes this act even more remarkable is that Dr. Bajaj’s own mother was admitted to the same hospital at the time, recovering from a heart attack, as per the post. As a doctor, he chose to step into the operation theatre and fight for Kartik’s life. The post quickly went viral, sparking an outpouring of respect and admiration online.

Internet heaps praises on Dr Ankur Bajaj
Comments flooded in, calling Dr. Bajaj a true hero. One user praised his kindness and integrity, saying such acts restore faith in the medical profession. Another said the story gave them goosebumps, writing, “True heroes don’t wear capes—they wear white coats.” Many echoed the same sentiment: in a world where stories of exploitation often make headlines, doctors like Ankur Bajaj stand out as shining examples of selflessness.
