New Delhi: The differences between Congress and RJD over seat sharing in Bihar persisted on Monday even after a meeting between RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and AICC general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal here. As the meeting failed to ink the deal, the anticipated interaction between Yadav and Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi didn't take place.
Tejashwi, along with his parents Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi, left for Patna the same night.
Sources said while the Congress side is insisting on contesting 65-70 seats with some preferred constituencies, RJD is believed to be urging its ally to settle for about 55 seats. AICC in-charge Krishna Allavaru, Bihar PCC president Rajesh Ram and CLP Shakeel Ahmed Khan, RJD MP Sanjay Yadav and VIP leader Mukesh Sahani too were present in the meeting.
"Both sides presented their respective views with specific seats and numbers. We have just a day, or at best two days, to sort out the seat-sharing pact. Let us see," said a party functionary after the meeting.
