As cat owners, we'll do everything possible to make our pets as happy and comfortable in our homes as possible. From getting them the food they like to playing with them and cleaning their litter boxes every day, it's a lot of work that goes into caring for our furry friends. But most wouldn't change it for the world - as itgives them the pleasure of having a cat around.
So to help people be the best owners possible for their cats, pet behaviour expert Jackson Galaxy, who is best known as the presenter of TV show 'My Cat From Hell', has shared what he believes is the 'golden rule' when it comes to taking care of your cat.
Taking to his TikTokaccount, where he has more than two million followers, he said: "When it comes to litter boxes, embrace the code of litter boxes."

He went on to explain exactly what this means, as cats are more picky about their litter boxes than you might realise.
Jackson went on to explain: "Embrace the golden rule of litter boxes, which is for each cat you have, you have a litter box, plus one. One cat, two litterboxes. Two cats, three litter boxes. It works."
However, he then emphasised the importance of having the litter boxes in different parts of your home. Don't just place them side by side. He explained: "Still doesn't count. I call litter boxes the king of scent soakers. Scent soakers are this thing that symbolise the sanctity of territory.
"Where your cat walks by it, it's almost like you walking by your mantle and you see all the pictures of your family. You walk by and you're all proud of your family."
He continued to explain that it's the same with cats and their litter boxes, as well as many of their other possessions.
Jackson said: "So when you spread out your litter boxes, put them in places where your first thought is 'what's good for my cat' and not 'I don't want to look at a litter box'."
He then promised: "I promise you, it'll change your life."
People were quick to share their thoughts in the comments section, with some applauding Jackson for his advice. However, others claimed it hadn't worked for them.
One individual commented: "I think this rules applies when you have a larger home, if your house is like three rooms (literally kitchen, bedroom and bathroom) one box is just fine."
Another person penned: "I have one cat and one litter box, I think he's okay."
And another added: "I have two cats and two litter boxes, and they both only use one. Like they won't use the bigger one. They share the small one and I feel like that is the total opposite of what he's saying."
