Mikel Arteta receives third Arsenal injury boost after Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard updates

Arsenal have received more good news on the injury front with Gabriel Jesus stepping up his recovery from the serious knee injury he sustained at the start of the year.

Jesus, 28, was forced to undergo ACL surgery after hurting himself in Arsenal's FA Cup third round loss to Manchester United back in January. The attacker has been sidelined ever since, with the Gunners moving to bring in reinforcements in the final third this summer ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

Noni Madueke, Viktor Gyokeres and Eberechi Eze have all been brought in to give Arsenal more firepower in their bid to land a first Premier League title in more than 20 years.

And they will be joined at some point in the future by Jesus, who shared a video of himself back training on the grass in a social media post on Sunday night. He wrote: "It’s been seven months of pain, uncertainty, and anxiety. Today, I finally feel light — like a child playing football again. GOD IS GREAT."

Jesus scored seven goals in 27 appearances last term before injury ended his campaign prematurely and his return to the grass caps a positive weekend for Mikel Arteta, who saw Eze unveiled as Arsenal's newest signing before his team thrashed sorry Leeds United 5-0 at The Emirates.

The result was soured slightly by injuries to Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka, both of whom left the field early after hurting themselves. Arteta had seemingly been fearing the worst over Saka, saying post-match: "For Bukayo to come off, for sure it looks like something that is significant."

However, The Times reported on Sunday that the injuries sustained by both players are not as serious as first feared, meaning Odegaard and Saka could be back on the pitch sooner than expected.

It remains to be if either Odegaard or Saka will be available to feature for Arsenal next weekend when they travel to Anfield to take on the Premier League champions, Liverpool.

That could open the door for Eze to make his Gunners debut earlier than planned with the England star capable of operating from the left or centrally, with Madueke also an option to start in Saka's place on the right if Arsenal's talisman is unavailable next Sunday.
