At 6 am today, despite challenging conditions, Army Aviation helicopters took off for rescue operations. All the stranded persons were evacuated and airlifted to a safe place."

Due to heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, rivers like Sutlej, Beas, Ujh and Ravi are in spate, causing flooding in Punjab districts including Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Fazilka, Tarn Taran and Ferozepur.

The water level has risen in Pathankot

Earlier today, Additional Deputy Commissioner Hardeep Singh said, "Due to continuous rains in Jammu and Kashmir, the water level in Pathankot has risen. We have identified Radha Swami Satsang Beas in Pathankot as an evacuation centre. We will shift people to this evacuation centre, and proper arrangements for food are also being made."
