Fortnite down - Update 37.40 server maintenance timings for KPop Demon Hunters launch

Fortnite developer Epic Games is about to add lots of new content to the game, although the good news ends there.

According to Epic Games, Fortnite update 37.40 is coming to PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 and Android on October 2. It adds new content such as crossover skins, Fortnitemares files and more.

Unfortunately, however, the good news ends there, because the new content won't be available until server maintenance comes to an end.

Fortnite will be taken offline at 9am BST UK time, while matchmaking is disabled shortly beforehand.

The news was announced by Epic Games on X (formerly Twitter), alongside a confirmation of the server downtime.

"Calling all hunters!" reads an Epic Games post. "Downtime for v37.40 begins at 4 AM ET with matchmaking ending shortly beforehand."

For UK fans, this means that Fortnite will be taken offline in full at 9am BST, while matchmaking will be disabled at 8.30am UK time.

Epic hasn't revealed exactly when downtime will come to an end, but maintenance typically lasts for 2-3 hours.

This means Fortnite and all companion game modes should be back online from 11am BST UK time at the earliest.

In terms of what fans can expect, update 37.40 is headlined by the release of KPop Demon Hunters content.

Fans will be able to purchase Rumi, Mira and Zoey skins, alongside individual Ramyeon backbling, Rumi's Sa-In-Geom, Mira's Gok-Do and Zoey's Shin-Kal harvesting tools, as well as Zoey's Thumbs Up emote.

In addition to the new KPop Demon Hunters skins and items, Epic Games is also launching a limited time game mode to accompany the content.

The Demon Rush limited-time game mode sees players team up to protect the Honmoon from the endless waves of faceless demons.

The new Demon Rush Mode will be live from October 2 until November 1. Likewise, creators will be able to use "film-inspired assets" to publish their own KPop Demon Hunters games.
