Prince Harry may no longer be on talking terms with his brother Prince William or his sister-in-law Princess Kate, but there was once a time when the trio seemed inseparable. Before Meghan Markle came onto the scene, Harry, 41, was often spotted with his brother and Princess Kate at royal events, with the three carrying out a number of engagements together.

Although some may wonder whether Harry felt left out at all, he is believed to have thoroughly enjoyed having Princess Kate, 43, around, and was happy about her and William's relationship. This was something Harry wrote about in his bombshell 2023 memoir Spare, with the book being one of the reasons behind some of his royal rifts.

Talking about his feelings for his sister-in-law when she first married Prince William, Harry gave a surprising eight-word verdict that shows who she really is in private and just how much the duke approved of her.

He said: "I felt she was more sister than in-law."

Writing in his memoir about Kate and William's wedding day in 2011, the Duke of Sussex wrote: "I loved my new sister-in-law, I felt she was more sister than in-law, the sister I'd never had and always wanted, and I was pleased that she'd forever be standing by Willy's side.

"She was a good match for my older brother. They made each other visibly happy, and therefore I was happy too."

While Harry may have happily welcomed Kate into the family, he also spoke in his memoir abouthow he felt that he was also losing a part of his brother, too, when the pair wed.

He explained in his book: "I recall Kate walking down the aisle, looking incredible, and I recall Willy walking her back up the aisle, and as they disappeared through the door, into the carriage that would convey them to Buckingham Palace, into the eternal partnership they'd pledged, I recall thinking: Goodbye."

While the trio were close for a number of years, it is believed the relationship between Harry and William, as well as Kate, began to crack in the lead-up to Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding in 2018.

The relationship then got worse when Harry and Meghan quit royal life in 2020, going on to speak openly about their criticisms of royal life in TV interviews, a Netflix docuseries and in Harry's memoir.

It is now believed the brothers have not spoken for some time, with William and Kate not meeting Harry on his latest trip to the UK earlier this month.
