The UK's happiest city has been revealed. Many will not be surprised to learn where it is, as it is home to an iconic pier, lovely beach and a slew of seaside attractions that make it a go-to favourite for generations of Brits. Time Out recently conducted its annual city survey, with 18,000 people from around the world participating. The survey asked city-dwellers about various aspects of living in their respective locations.
Topics ranged from affordability to nightlife to walkability and cultural offerings. The publication also asked people specifically about the happiness they relate to the city in which they live. For example, participants were asked to respond to statements like 'My city makes me happy', 'I feel happier in my city than other places I've visited or lived', 'The people in my city seem happy', and ' I find joy in the everyday experiences my city offers'.

For each city, a combined score was created, which resulted in a final ranking. And one UK city made the top 20 list of the happiest cities in the world.
According to this study, Brighton is the happiest city in the UK. This is perhaps one of the most iconic seaside destinations in all of the UK, with a world-famous pier full of classic amusements, seaside food and entertainment.
Meanwhile, Brighton's beach has been dubbed by TripAdvisor as the best beach in the UK, based on visitor reviews. However, Brighton has plenty more to offer other than classic seaside fun.
The city is also known as a vibrant hub for the LGBT+ community, with a slew of bars and clubs, weekly drag shows, and one of the country's most well-known Pride festivals, which takes place every August.
Additionally, Brighton is friendly to vegetarians and vegans, with a host of plant-based restaurants. The streets of Brighton are lined with thriving shops, and the lanes make for an exciting afternoon of meandering, visiting independent businesses and cafes along the way.
Brighton landed in 11th place on the list of happiest cities in the world, according to TimeOut's survey. Locals also voted it the most walkable city in the UK, and rated it highly for nightlife and food.
The publication said: "Our survey found that Brighton is the world's third most diverse and inclusive city, too. It's affectionately known as the UK's gay capital, with a higher proportion of people identifying as bi, pan, asexual and non-binary than any other city in England and Wales, and one of the most popular Pride celebrations in all of Europe."
Brighton wasn't the only UK city to be named one of the world's happiest. Glasgow, Scotland, landed in 20th place. The historic city ranked highly thanks to its vibrant nightlife, food scene, cultural experiences and other attractive features.
