Wolves have five options to replace Vitor Pereira including two ex-Man Utd managers

Wolves' winless start to the campaign continued on Sunday as they suffered a 3-2 home defeat at the hands of relegation rivals Burnley. The Black Country outfit are bottom of the Premier League table and have already been cut six points adrift of 17th-place Fulham.

Vitor Pereira is under huge pressure at Molineux following his side's disastrous start and could be fearing the worst, despite signing a new contract in September. And Express Sport takes a look at five managers who could replace Pereira should the Portuguese manager lose his job.

Kevin Muscat

Kevin Muscat was close to taking over at Rangers following the sacking of Russell Martin. But the move fell through as the Australian was keen to stay with Shanghai Port until the Chinese Super League season concludes in late November.

Wolves may be willing to wait a few weeks for Muscat, who is aiming to guide his current team to a second league title in three years. And his no-nonsense approach may be exactly what Wolves need at this time.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is currently out of work after being sacked by Besiktas in August. The Norwegian had a relatively successful period in charge of Manchester United between the end of 2018 and late 2021 before losing his job at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils finished second in the Premier League under Solskjaer as the former striker managed to get the best out of big-name stars. And the Wolves players could benefit from the belief Solskjaer could instil.

Erik ten Hag

Wolves could turn to another former United manager in the form of Erik ten Hag should they decide to cut ties with Pereira.

The Dutchman lost his job at Bayer Leverkusen at the start of September after spending just two months in charge of the German club. And he may have to accept a job at a bottom-end side should he wish to return to management in the Premier League. He may ultimately excel without the pressure that comes with managing the Red Devils.

Sergio Conceicao

Wolves have been linked with Sergio Conceicao in the past, with the former Portugal international currently in charge of Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League.

The 50-year-old has experience of managing Porto and AC Milan and could be a decent fit at Wolves, who are looking to avoid a return to the Championship for the first time since 2018.

Gary O'Neil

If Wolves are willing to go back to someone who has already had a stint in the Molineux dugout, they could target Gary O'Neil, who was sacked by the club last December.

The Englishman enjoyed a strong start to his career as Wolves manager before things unravelled at the start of last season.

But he will first need to convince the club's owners that he has developed as a manager over the last 10 months and can improve on his record from last season.
