NEW DELHI: A Sikh delegation , including Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri, on Friday submitted recommendations to PM Narendra Modi for the safekeeping and display of the " Jore Sahib ," a pair of footwear belonging to Guru Gobind Singh and his wife.
After the meeting, Modi said the holy relics would inspire generations to follow the 10th Sikh guru's path of courage, justice, and social harmony. "Relics as significant as the 'Jore Sahib' are part of Sikh history and the nation's cultural ethos ," he posted on X. Sikhs consider the Guru Granth Sahib their living guru after Guru Gobind Singh's demise.
Puri said his family has served these relics for over 300 years, ever since the Guru and Mata Sahib Kaur blessed his ancestor with them. "Our ancestor sought Guru Sahib's permission to keep the sacred 'Jore Sahib' so their blessings continue for generations," he posted.
The occasion featured a soulful ' Mool Mantra ' by singer Harshdeep Kaur , who shared photos and said Modi requested her to sing 'Ik Onkar.'
